Industrial polymers for the automotive industry: innovative and reliable solutions from Geartec
Geartec has a proven track record in processing industrial polymers for the automotive industry. Parts in medium to large series can be produced in the injection molding department while applications characterized by small batches or particularly tight tolerances, which characterize, for example, the racing sector or pre-series are obtained, by turning or milling.
The benefits of polymer processing for the automotive industry:
- Lightweight and strong materials: polymers and composites provide high mechanical strength with low weight, helping to reduce overall vehicle weight and increase operating efficiency.
- Excellent tribological properties: The plastic and composite materials used by Geartec provide wear resistance and a high coefficient of friction, reducing maintenance and lubrication requirements.
- Good chemical, mechanical and thermal resistance: Polymers offer high resistance to extreme temperatures, chemicals and mechanical stresses, ensuring component durability and reliability.
- Competitive costs: The processing of industrial polymers provides an economical alternative to traditional metal materials, helping to reduce production costs.
By collaborating with Geartec, you will benefit from:
- Established Expertise: A portfolio of successful projects demonstrating our capability to achieve results.
- Customized Solutions: We develop products aligned with your specific requirements and challenges.
- Continuous Innovation: We are constantly exploring new possibilities to enhance our products and processes.

PEEK PVX gerotor
The part shown in the image is a “gerotor” used in the racing industry and machined, in the tribological grade of PEEK.
The gerotor is a volumetric pumping unit consisting of two elements placed in rotation.
The outer rotor has one more tooth than the inner rotor, and both rotate with respect to axes offset from each other.
During the rotation cycle, the volumes formed by the teeth of the rotors vary dynamically by sucking in and pumping out the working fluid.
The requirements of ensuring smooth and friction-free rotational motion, combined with that of achieving precise pumping operations, led to the choice of PEEK PVX, a plastic material that shows dimensional stability, thermal and chemical resistance and excellent tribological properties, as the raw material, material and the need to guarantee very tight dimensional and shape tolerances.
Two-stage rotor
Mchined plastic parts are often requested in the racing sector where the low production volume does not justify the construction of the necessary molding equipment.
The part shown in the image obtained in PEEK by milling is characterized by the need to ensure tight shape and dimensional tolerances combined with a total absence of burrs and imperfections
