Precision Milling of Micro-Components in the Electronics Sector
The component examined in the video is a micro-component part of a testing system for microchips in the electronics sector.
The main challenges in manufacturing these parts lie not only in the very tight tolerances but also in the small dimensions. Since very small diameter mills must be used, the spindle rotation speed needs to be very high: in this case, machine precision plays a fundamental role in ensuring the successful manufacturing of the component.
The large quantities of parts required by the client made the use of a robotic system for part loading advantageous, ensuring high productivity and, consequently, significantly reduced lead time.
The material chosen for the application is white Polyetheretherketone (PEEK), which provides high dimensional stability and exceptional tool machinability.
