The PEEK heart of coffee machines: High-precision machining for a beating heart

The video shows a PEEK machined part mounted as steam injector on professional coffee machines. The raw material, as well as being suitable for food contact, must ensure dimensional stability at high temperature and hydrolysis resistance while the production process must be able to ensure a complete absence of burrs and machining residues within the holes and channels cut into the component.
The large volumes requested by the customer justify the use of the sliding head lathe, which guarantees high work rates and dimensional stability throughout the entire production process. The Geartec machine is equipped with various motorized tool holders which allow it to avoid a possible final passage on the milling center.
