PE – Polyethylene

Polyethylene is a lightweight and highly adaptable synthetic plastic produced through the polymerization of ethylene. It is part of the polyolefin family and is considered one of the most widely used plastics globally. PE polymers are semi-crystalline thermoplastics known for their exceptional toughness and strong resistance to chemicals. However, compared to other plastics, polyethylene has lower mechanical strength and limited heat resistance.
The molecular weight of different polyethylene variants can vary significantly, directly influencing their physical properties. The most common types include high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW). Additionally, there are various low-density polyethylene (LDPE) options available.
