PVDF – Polyvinylidene Fluoride

PVDF is a semi-crystalline, opaque thermoplastic fluoropolymer known for its exceptional chemical resistance. Unlike other fluoroplastics, it does not suffer from drawbacks such as low mechanical strength or difficulties in processing. The melting point of PVDF is 171 °C.
Due to its excellent resistance to heat and chemicals, PVDF is commonly used in chemical plant construction, as a lining material for pipes, or for external components. Additionally, it is suitable for gaskets, membranes, and packaging films.
Thanks to its strong piezoelectric properties after appropriate polarization, PVDF is also a preferred material in metrology. Other potential applications include microphones, hydrophones, loudspeakers, and actuators.
